In January 2011, Brewster Transportation made public its plans for a proposed “Glacier Discovery Walk” on the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park. The initial public reaction to the proposal was overwhelmingly negative. Nonetheless, the Parks Canada Agency, proceeded with allowing the proponent to conduct an Environmental Assessment. This document was released in November 2011. This one, 17-week snapshot represents the entire benchmark data for species, and their populations and trends in the project area. Despite this paltry "science," Peter Kent, federal Minister of the Environment, approved the project on February 9, 2012. Construction is underway.
